Hello,
Fans of G.K. Chesterton may be interested in an event that is coming up in the Bay Area - a Chesterton impersonator, who is supposed to be good, will be giving a one-man-performance this February (see below).
Peace and love,
-Deirdre
The St. Anthony of Padua Institute cordially invites you to: An Evening with G.K. Chesterton.
(For more information and online reservation, please click here.)
Join the Institute for a special dinner of a Northern Californian approach to British Cuisine prepared by the talented Erik Keilholtz. This promises to be a meal that would have sated the great Chesterton himself. The performance of Dr. John Chuck Chalberg, performing his acclaimed one-man G.K. Chesterton show, will immediately follow the dinner.
You must register for this event as tickets will not be available at the door.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G.K. Chesterton will journey all the way from England to offer his own unique views on everything from the virtues of things small, whether they be families or pubs, to the evils of things large, whether they be imperialist schemes or socialist states. A man of paradox & humor, he will surprise you, confound you, and provoke you. This is the Englishman who helped deliver his fellow countryman C.S. Lewis to Christianity. What might he have in store for you?
"Idolatry is committed, not merely by setting up false gods, but also by setting up false devils; by making men afraid of war or alcohol, or economic law, when they should be afraid of spiritual corruption and cowardice."
When?
Friday, February 9th, 2007
Cocktails at 5pm
Dinner - 6pm
Performance - 7:30 pm
Where?
St. Margaret Mary's Church
1219 Excelsior Ave
Oakland, CA 94610
