Hey, anybody watch this show? I avoid the idiot machine as a rule, but my friend Michaela happened to have the first season on DVD and I got hooked right into it. It's actually really awesome. Fantastic fights and effects, spectacular dialogue, and truly likeable characters; and over it all there hangs a deep sense of what must be called "Eighties-ness," a sort of almost Tolkienian yearning for the vanished decade in which us Dappled folk mostly grew up and which has now become classic rock. I was beginning to worry, last season, that they were becoming too focused upon Satan to the annihilation of God and that I might have to stop watching the show; but then, this season, the Angels finally arrived and hope staggers on. Good stuff. Also, Sam and Dean are the shizzzzz. New episode tonight, baby!

ff--
Have seen a bit of it, nothing from this season, though. Glad to hear angels are appearing, since what I saw last season just kept getting darker and darker.
Has anyone been watching DirtySexyMoney? In spite of the provocative title, it'd wonderful. Last season (the half-season before the writer's strike) was better, but this season is good, too. Good dialogue, great plot twists, lots of material on the corrupting effects of waaaaaaay too much money. It may be too late to get into it, since the plot is pretty well advanced, but if you come across it anywhere after the DVDs come out, I highly recommend it. I doubt it'll go past this season, alas.
Also, firefolk, have you started writing again?

Yeah, I have. I keep thinking my work is done, only to discover something else that needs to be said. I guess the work ends when you die, huh? How's the little Bluett?

He's growing like a weed and teething like crazy--we think he's working on four teeth right now, and at the same time readjusting his sleep schedule, so right now is a little crazy. I never did figure out how to post pics to this forum, alas. ANyway, he's well.
How's the economy treating you?

Oh, you know--things are never so good but they can be better, and never so bad but they can be worse. I've got shoes on my feet and beer in the fridge, so I have no cause to complain. Born in other lands and times, I might be in a gulag right now; but as good as that would no doubt be for my soul, I'm just as happy to be where I am. How goes the writin' on your end?

Writing? My end? BWAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
*Sigh* No, seriously, it's a bit thin. It's just hard to concentrate. I've got a few poems in the hopper, and the beginnings of a prose story in the word processor, but every time I sit down to write the baby wakes up or the chores start screaming or I just generally can't manage more than a line or two. Quite frustrating. Here's hoping that when peace and sanity (hah!) return, something or other will bear fruit.

Hang in there, Kate. God willing, in a few more years we'll all be gunned down by fanatical atheists while publicly reciting the Apostles' Creed.
