My new DT just arrived yesterday. I haven't had a chance to consume it yet; I've only looked at the art (one does that first, you know) and taken the time to read Exu, because of its interesting title. First, I love Ryan Hannigan's art. I wish I could visit his gallery in Scotland. And Exu is--well, scary. I don't think I want to know how Arthur Powers got his background information, but his character of Ines is familiar to us, if we reflect for a moment on the air-headed vulnerability of the average modern young American, who makes such vapid remarks as, "I don't believe in organized religion, but I'm very spiritual." The story isn't scary because its theme is exotic, but because it isn't, not really.

"And Exu is--well, scary."
Agree. It literally gave me nightmares (which don't happen to me that often because of books!). Brr. No more reading about demons before bedtime.
