Dear Immortaldiamond, Of course it's a violation of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, academic freedom, even freedom of thought. What it is not is a "shock." It's the way things are. To make a law prohibiting "hate speech" is anyhow unconstitutional, regardless of whether the speech is hateful or not. (That's a subjective judgment in the first place.) The law exists for the sole purpose of silencing speech, religion, thought. Its purpose is obvious, blatant, tyrannical, evil. I herewith break the law: I HATE _____. (fill in the blank: bananas, cold grits, the color purple, my aunt Eloise, boring sermons, tyranny.) So arrest me.

update: He was reinstated the day after the deadline his lawyer had given the university before filing suit. He was re-hired for the same reason he was fired: the university wants to cover its ***. Nothing else really mattered.
